TEHRAN — Iran announced the partial reopening of its airspace and the resumption of operations at several airports as of 0330 GMT on Saturday.Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization said international flights are now allowed to transit through the eastern part of the country’s airspace, according to reports carried by Mehr News Agency.The authority said airport operations across the country will be gradually restored, depending on the technical and operational readiness of military and civilian authorities, to resume passenger services.The Association of Iranian Airlines said six airports have reopened following the announcement.The reopened airports include Imam Khomeini International Airport and Mehrabad Airport, along with international airports in Mashhad, Birjand, Gorgan and Zahedan.Iranian airlines are preparing to resume both domestic and international flights, according to the association’s secretary, as cited by Tasnim News Agency.On Feb. 28, the United States and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran, prompting retaliatory strikes by Tehran on Israel and regional countries.The conflict has remained on hold since April 8 after Pakistan mediated a two-week ceasefire.Washington and Tehran held talks in Pakistan last weekend aimed at securing a lasting peace, while efforts are underway for another round of talks in Islamabad.
