KYIV — Russia and Ukraine exchanged overnight drone strikes on Saturday, leaving at least one person dead and several others injured as attacks hit Kyiv, Odesa and multiple Russian regions, officials from both sides said.Four people were injured in a Russian drone attack on Hostomel, northwest of the Ukrainian capital, according to Kyiv regional military administration head Timur Tkachenko.In Kyiv, two people were injured when Russia struck the Pivnichnyi Bridge, marking the third consecutive day that key bridges in the capital had been targeted, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.Traffic across the bridge from Kyiv’s Left Bank to the Right Bank was blocked after the attack damaged the road surface and overhead trolleybus lines.In the Odesa region, a Russian strike hit a Liberian-flagged civilian cargo ship, killing one person and injuring three others.The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority said 13 crew members were safely evacuated from the vessel.Ukraine’s air defense forces said they shot down or suppressed 131 Russian drones during the overnight attacks.Russia’s Defense Ministry confirmed carrying out the strikes, saying its forces targeted Ukrainian infrastructure and a maritime vessel it alleged was being used to support the Ukrainian military.The ministry said Russian forces struck the Pivnichnyi road bridge across the Dnieper River in Kyiv, a logistics center in Hostomel that it claimed was used to store supplies for Ukrainian forces, and a dry cargo ship carrying what it described as dual-use goods to the port of Odesa.Meanwhile, in Russia’s Kaluga region, “several people” suffered minor injuries in a Ukrainian attack that damaged apartment buildings and private homes, Gov. Vladislav Shapsha said.Russia’s Defense Ministry said its forces intercepted 218 Ukrainian drones over several Russian regions, Crimea, the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine in 2014, a move that is not internationally recognized.
