LONDON — Train services in southern England have been cancelled after bedbugs were discovered on trains operated by Southeastern, according to a report Friday.Several trains were removed from service after staff discovered the insects crawling inside carriages, The Telegraph reported.The infestation has affected the West Marina train care depot near Hastings, East Sussex, while sightings have also been reported on Southeastern’s High Speed 1 services, raising concerns that the bugs could be spreading.Drivers have refused to board affected trains and accused management of failing to take the problem seriously, according to internal messages cited by the newspaper.At least three services were cancelled Friday, with further cancellations reported since the first sighting on Sept. 22.One train, nicknamed the “Bedbug Express” by staff, operated several services between London and Kent on Tuesday with two carriages locked and taken out of use after a driver spotted insects at one end of the train.Southeastern said in a post on X that bedbugs had been found in only two driver cabs and that no passenger areas had been affected.“Two further trains were brought out of service to be checked, but were found to be clear and put back into service,” the railway operator said.
