Yemeni army says 181 operations hit Houthi targets in 24 hours

ADEN — The Yemeni army said Sunday it carried out 181 military operations against Houthi positions and targets across several governorates over the past 24 hours, killing and wounding dozens of the group’s fighters.Military spokesman Col. Majid Abdullah Al-Nuzaili said on X that the operations targeted Houthi military sites and sources of fire in Taiz, Marib, Abyan, Al-Dhalea and Al-Hudaydah.He said the attacks destroyed “dozens of military equipment, vehicles and weapons depots” belonging to the Houthis.Al-Nuzaili said dozens of Houthi fighters were killed or wounded in the operations but did not provide a specific casualty figure.Yemen had experienced a relative lull in fighting since April 2022 following years of war between government forces and the Houthis, who have controlled the capital Sanaa and other areas since 2014.Fighting has intensified again in several provinces in recent weeks, including Marib, Al-Jawf, Al-Dhalea and Taiz, as Yemen continues to face one of the world’s worst humanitarian and economic crises.
