In a Truth Social post on Tuesday, Trump said Iran’s agreement to the inspections was a prerequisite for continuing negotiations, adding that the talks would not have moved forward without the concessions.

The US president authorized the removal of restrictions on Iranian ports and the continued opening of the Strait of Hormuz to shipping, while maintaining US military and naval deployments as a precaution against any future need to restore the measures.

He added that Iranian funds to be released by the US Treasury, as well as any sanctions-related waivers, would be placed in a US-supervised account and used exclusively to purchase food and medical supplies from the US, items that Iran urgently needs.

In a separate post, Trump said around 19 million barrels of oil passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, adding that oil prices are falling sharply and arguing that the world is now significantly safer than before.
