Saudi Arabia’s Transport General Authority (TGA) extended for another six months, until March 26, 2027, a decision governing the operating lifespan of trucks used in heavy freight transport. 
The extension is aimed at maximizing the useful life of operating assets and giving heavy freight operators greater flexibility in managing their fleets, the authority said in a statement.
Under the extension, single-unit trucks and tractor units used for commercial heavy freight transport, whether for third parties or an operator’s own business, may continue to exceed the standard operating age limit, provided they are no more than 22 years old from the date of manufacture.
The TGA said extending the measure would help optimize the use of the existing fleet’s operating capacity while maintaining its readiness.
