Saudi Ministry of Sports announced the thar the Sports Law has taken effect today, June 11, setting a comprehensive regulatory framework for the Kingdom’s sports sector and defining the roles and responsibilities of entities and individuals subject to its provisions.

The law aims to streamline the status and governance of sports entities and stakeholders, strengthen institutional practices, and support the achievement of national sports objectives, including increasing sports participation rates and enhancing access to sports facilities for all segments of society.

The ministry said the law would directly support investment in the sector by providing a clearer framework for commercial and sports-related transactions, helping attract investment and drive the development and growth of the sports industry.

The law applies to sports entities including the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, sports federations, leagues and sports clubs, as well as their board members and employees. It also covers the Saudi Sports Arbitration Center and the Saudi Anti-Doping Committee, while establishing the legal framework governing athletes and coaches.

Moreover, the law applies to transactions related to sporting competitions and events across all sports in the Kingdom, as well as sports facilities and their users. It also covers sports centers, institutes and academies, and regulates licensing procedures, professional accreditation requirements, and the approval of sports training and professional development programs.
