US President Donald Trump said on Thursday a “great settlement” to end the war was reached with Iran.
“We’re going to be subject to finalization of documents,” Trump told reporters at the White House.
He expects the agreement to be signed “within the next few days,” indicating that the Strait of Hormuz would reopen immediately after the deal is signed.
The agreement could be signed over the weekend somewhere in Europe, with Vice President JD Vance expected to attend, Trump said.
The remarks came after Trump earlier canceled planned military strikes against Iran that had been scheduled for Thursday night, saying talks with Tehran had reached an advanced stage and involved senior levels of the Iranian leadership.
