Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet approved new rules governing insurance dispute resolution committees, introducing a five-year limitation period for insurance claims.

Under the rules, claims filed more than five years after the amount becomes due will generally not be heard, unless a valid excuse for the delay is accepted.

The regulations will apply to pending insurance disputes that have not yet been resolved, as well as ongoing procedures that remain incomplete.
