Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services granted today, Sept. 14, the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) to the Air Arabia consortium, officially recognizing it as a new national low-cost carrier based at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam.

According to the ministry’s post on X, the ceremony was attended by Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and Chairman of General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) Saleh Al-Jasser, along with GACA President Abdulaziz Al-Duailej.

In July 2025, GACA named a consortium led by Air Arabia and consisting of Kun Investment Holding and Nesma Co., as the new national low-cost airline based at King Fahd International Airport, Argaam reported.

The initiative aims to strengthen air connectivity in the Eastern Province, expand seat capacity, and increase travel options for passengers.
