Faisal Haddawi,CEO ofMiddle East Paper Co. (MEPCO)
Middle East Paper Co. (MEPCO) CEO Faisal Haddawi said the PM5 containerboard mill project is progressing according to plan, with commercial operations expected to commence by the end of 2027.
Meanwhile, the company expects the expansion of its TM6 tissue mill to begin operations by the end of 2026, he told Argaam.
Haddawi explained that the company reallocated around SAR 291.1 million previously earmarked for acquisitions to finance the containerboard mill project, bringing the total allocation for the project to approximately SAR 465 million.
He noted that the project is not solely aimed at adding new containerboard production capacity, but also includes the production of a new low grammage product weighing 70 grams per square meter (GSM).
This technology would help develop the market and generate new demand in the corrugated packaging sector.
The CEO also added that the project represents a strategic step for the company and will strengthen its competitive position both locally and globally by introducing a new product while expanding its production capacity.
