New residential mortgages to individuals by banks in Saudi Arabia rose slightly to around SAR 5.87 billion in August 2026, compared with SAR 5.87 billion a year ago.

On a monthly basis, mortgage lending decreased by around SAR 8 million, according to data released by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA).

According to the data, the total number of contracts signed between banks and individuals during August 2026 reached around 9,810.

The average value of new residential mortgages declined to SAR 598,000, down 19% from the average value of mortgages in August 2025.

Residential villa financing accounted for the largest share of total financing provided by banks in August, amounting to SAR 3.66 billion, or 62%.

Apartments ranked second at SAR 1.91 billion, while financing for land purchases amounted to around SAR 290 million.
