Heavy rain, flash floods forecast across parts of Saudi Arabia through Tuesday

JEDDAH — Heavy rainfall — accompanied by hail and flash floods — is expected to continue across parts of Saudi Arabia through Tuesday, September 22, according to the National Center for Meteorology (NCM). With varying levels of rainfall forecast across several regions, parts of Jazan, including Al-Aridah, Sabya, Abu Arish, Al-Darb, Al-Harth, Al-Dayer, Al-Raith, Al-Tuwal, Damad, Fayfa, Harub and Samtah, are expected to experience moderate to heavy rain. Meanwhile, Jazan city and Farasan are forecast to experience moderate rain, which may become heavy on Sunday and Monday. In Asir, moderate to heavy rain is expected across several areas, including Abha, Khamis Mushait, Ahad Rafidah, Sarat Abidah, Dhahran Al-Janub, Al-Harajah, Al-Namas, Tanomah, Bisha, Balqarn, Al-Majardah, Rijal Almaa and Mahayil. Al-Baha and surrounding areas, including Baljurashi, Al-Mandaq, Al-Qura and Al-Aqiq, are also forecast to experience moderate to heavy rain, with some areas expected to see these conditions on Monday and Tuesday. In the Makkah region, light to moderate rain is forecast for Taif, Maysan, Adham and Al-Ardiyat, while Al-Qunfudhah, Al-Lith and Al-Jumum are expected to see light to moderate rain on Monday and Tuesday. Light to moderate rain is also forecast for Wadi Al-Fara and Al-Mahd in the Madinah region. In Najran, light to moderate rain is expected across Najran, Badr Al-Janub, Thar, Hubuna, Khubash, Yadamah and Sharurah. The NCM said moderate rainfall may be accompanied by strong winds exceeding 50 km/h, while heavy rainfall may bring winds exceeding 60 km/h.
