KYIV — At least three people were killed and dozens injured as Russia and Ukraine exchanged overnight drone strikes on Wednesday, with both sides reporting attacks across multiple regions.In Ukraine, two people were killed and more than 20 injured in Kyiv as Russian drones struck the capital, according to local authorities.The Kyiv City Military Administration said a warehouse, fuel stations and an office building were damaged in the Holosiivskyi and Darnytskyi districts, while drone debris fell in the Solomianskyi district.In the southern Odesa region, a Russian strike hit an Antigua and Barbuda-flagged commercial cargo vessel in the Black Sea, killing its Ukrainian captain, according to Ukrainian authorities. Port and civilian infrastructure, including warehouses, were also targeted.Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said firefighters from the neighboring Mykolaiv region were deployed to assist in extinguishing fires caused by the strikes.Authorities also reported casualties and damage from Russian attacks in several other regions.Ukraine’s Air Force said its air defenses intercepted more than 120 Russian drones during the overnight assault.Russia’s Defense Ministry, meanwhile, said its forces struck facilities in Kyiv and the surrounding region that it alleged were involved in producing drones and drone components.The ministry also claimed to have targeted logistics facilities and a drone warehouse in the Odesa region, as well as a vessel it alleged was delivering military cargo to the port of Odesa. The claims could not be independently verified.Moscow said its air defenses intercepted more than 500 Ukrainian drones overnight across 18 Russian regions, as well as over the Black Sea, the Sea of Azov and Russian-occupied Crimea.Russian regional authorities reported several casualties from Ukrainian strikes. Officials in the Belgorod region said eight people were wounded in attacks over the past day, including two who were seriously injured, while two people were reported injured in drone strikes in the Bryansk region.Ukrainian authorities had not immediately commented on the reported strikes inside Russia.Russia and Ukraine have intensified long-range drone attacks in recent months, targeting logistics, ports and energy infrastructure. Both countries deny deliberately targeting civilians.
