RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s non-oil private sector maintained its growth trajectory in September, reaching its highest level in seven months, according to the latest Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) data from Riyad Bank. The data showed that growth in demand recovered to levels approaching its usual pace, while employment and purchasing activity recorded faster rates of expansion. The headline PMI rose from 53.8 in August to 55.3 in September, indicating an improvement in business conditions in the non-oil economy for the sixth consecutive month. The pace of improvement was the strongest since February. However, the acceleration was largely driven by a significant increase in new orders, which masked a concurrent slowdown in output growth. The new orders index rose sharply in September, moving much closer to its long-term average and suggesting that demand conditions have recovered well after slowing down in mid-2020.
