JEDDAH — Hussain Al-Qahtani, spokesperson of the National Center for Meteorology (NCM), stated that the meteorological summer season is nearing its end, with autumn set to begin on September 1. This marks the beginning of a transitional phase characterized by fluctuating weather patterns and a relative moderation in temperatures. In a statement on his official Twitter account on Wednesday, Al-Qahtani said that, according to climate indicators, September has historically been the fourth-hottest month of the year in terms of average temperatures, despite marking the onset of the seasonal transition toward autumn. He noted that September is considered as the month with the lowest rainfall in the Kingdom, recording an average annual rainfall of approximately 1.64 mm. September is regarded as the beginning of the transitional period between summer and autumn, characterized by gradual changes in weather patterns ahead of the arrival of more moderate conditions in the following months. Meanwhile, the NCM’s daily weather report for Wednesday predicted the formation of thunderstorms accompanied by active winds in parts of the Jazan, Asir, and Al-Baha regions. Maximum temperatures are expected to remain high in parts of the Eastern Province and Riyadh, while active winds stirring up dust and sand are expected in parts of these regions, as well as in parts of Najran, the Northern Borders, Hail, Qassim, Madinah, and Makkah.
