New fees on credit card top-ups to digital banks are set to take effect in September

Several banks operating in Saudi Arabia have introduced fees on digital bank top-ups made using credit cards.

The fees will be treated as cash withdrawal charges, amounting to 3% of the transaction value for transactions below SAR 2,500, capped at SAR 75 for transactions of SAR 2,500 or more.

The fees are set to apply to digital bank top-up transactions starting in September.

Digital banks are digital wallets that provide a full range of banking services digitally through advanced technologies. These banks were licensed under a Cabinet decision dated June 22, 2021. There are four licensed local digital banks in the Kingdom.
