Alshaya Group plans to open The Avenues Riyadh and The Avenues Khobar projects between late 2026 and early 2027, with expectations to create more than 6,000 jobs for Saudi nationals, said Abdullah Faisal, Regional HR Director.
He told Al Eqtisadiah that Saudis currently make up over 50% of the company’s workforce, holding a wide range of roles including leadership, middle management, and frontline retail positions.
The group currently operates nearly 1,000 branches across Saudi Arabia, featuring well-known brands such as Starbucks, and plans to open more than 300 new outlets in the coming period across additional brands, the official stated.
According to data available with Argaam, the foundation stone for The Avenues – Riyadh was laid in February 2022, covering a built-up area of 1.8 million square meters, with investments exceeding SAR 14 billion.
Shomoul Holding, a subsidiary of Kuwait’s Mabanee Co., signed an agreement with Alshaya Group in September 2025 for the latter to invest $150 million in The Avenues-Riyadh. The project includes opening 100 stores across a total leasable area of over 50,000 square meters (sqm).
In January 2025, Mabanee Chief Operating Officer Waleed Al Fahad said construction of The Avenues-Riyadh project is 65% complete, with the opening of its commercial mall scheduled for late 2026. Other parts of the project, including three hotels, a residential tower, and a service tower, will be launched a year later.
The Avenues Khobar project will feature a large shopping mall, entertainment spaces, and towers housing hotels, residential apartments, offices, medical clinics, and venues for events and exhibitions.
