JEDDAH — The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has foiled an attempt to smuggle 29.1 kilograms of cocaine hidden inside a shipment arriving at Jeddah Islamic Port.ZATCA spokesperson Hammoud Al-Harbi said the drugs were discovered during customs inspection procedures using advanced security technologies and inspection methods.The cocaine was concealed inside an air conditioning unit within the container, he added.Al-Harbi stressed that ZATCA continues to strengthen customs control across all entry points to protect society and prevent smuggling attempts, in line with its strategy to enhance security and public safety.He noted that the authority works in coordination with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to combat drug trafficking.ZATCA urged the public to report smuggling activities through its dedicated hotline (1910), email, or international contact number, assuring confidentiality and offering financial rewards for verified information.
