Commercial crude oil inventories in the US declined during the week ended Oct. 2, along with a decrease in gasoline inventories, the American Petroleum Institute (API) report released on Oct. 6 showed.

Crude oil inventories fell by 2.09 million barrels last week, while gasoline stocks declined by 1.37 million barrels. Distillate stocks – including diesel and heating oil – increased by 461,000 barrels.

Oil market traders are awaiting the official data from the Energy Information Administration, scheduled to be released later today, Oct. 7, amid expectations of a 1.7-million-barrel increase in crude oil inventories.

At the close of trading on Tuesday, Brent crude futures for December delivery rose 0.26% to $100.58 a barrel, while WTI crude futures for November delivery remained unchanged at $89.44 a barrel.
