BERLIN — A fire swept through a hospital in the northeastern German town on Thursday, killing two patients and injuring 34 others, German media reported.Local authorities stated that the fire broke out in the roof structure of the hospital in Ludwigslust, resulting in the death of two people and injury to at least 34 others, though none suffered serious injuries.According to information obtained by the BILD newspaper, there were 82 patients in the building at the time of the fire. The fire broke out in one section of the Helene-von-Bulow-Klinikum hospital.The Nordkurier newspaper said the fire is believed to have started in the roof trusses of the radiology building, and that smoke quickly spread throughout the hospital.Evacuation of patients and staff from the building is still ongoing, the authorities added, noting that the total number of people evacuated remains unclear.The hospital has 160 beds. It is the only hospital in Ludwigslust and provides basic and standard medical care for the region.
