President Donald Trump signed an agreement with Iran aimed at ending the conflict in the Middle East, a US official told Agence France-Presse (AFP). The signing reportedly took place during a dinner meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron on the sidelines of the G7 Summit.
In the same context, the BBC cited the White House as saying that the agreement has already entered into force, launching a 60-day negotiation period between Washington and Tehran aimed at reaching a comprehensive final settlement of the dispute.
Iranian state media also reported, citing Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei, that the memorandum of understanding (MoU) was formally signed by the presidents of both countries.
