Faisal Al-Yousef, CEO of Tawrid Company for Financing Solutions, said banks and non-banking financial institutions (NBFIs) will provide the liquidity needed to finance suppliers through the platform, stressing that the company does not use its own capital for financing operations and does not directly assume financing risks.
In an interview with Asharq TV, Al-Yousef explained that Tawrid acts as an intermediary within the supply chain finance ecosystem, connecting suppliers, buyers and financing institutions, enabling suppliers to receive their receivables before their invoices fall due.
He said the company is initially launching with a reverse factoring product, under which a major buyer facilitates financing for its suppliers. The financing institution pays the supplier the value of an approved invoice early, after deducting the financing cost, while the buyer repays the financing institution when the invoice falls due.
Al-Yousef explained that an invoice approved by the buyer after receiving the goods or services represents the primary security for the transaction. Therefore, the financing institution typically does not require additional collateral from the supplier. He noted that this type of product is based not on the suppliers, but on large, highly creditworthy buyers that will repay the financing institutions, enabling them to provide liquidity to suppliers at a lower cost.
Tawrid obtained a permit from the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) in Q3 2025 and has been operating for around a year under SAMA’s regulatory sandbox to test its products. Preparations to launch the company began around three years ago, according to the top executive.
The CEO also emphasized that the platform’s services will not be limited to a specific sector, but will cover various sectors of the economy and all types of entities, with the aim of expanding the use of supply chain finance solutions. He noted that the current priority is to expand the product offering and serve the Saudi market, without setting targets for financing volumes or market share.
The Public Investment Fund (PIF) announced, on Sept. 20, the launch of Tawrid Company for Financing Solutions, an innovative digital platform providing supply-chain financing products to companies in the Saudi Arabian market. Tawrid has started operations and has already signed binding agreements with local banks and companies, as per Argaam’s data.
