National Industrialization Co. (Tasnee) and Sahara International Petrochemical Co. (Sipchem) completed construction on the expansion of the ethylene cracker plant operated by the Saudi Ethylene and Polyethylene Co. (SEPC).
The trial production has commenced, the two companies said in statements to Tadawul.
The project is a joint venture between Tasnee and Sahara Olefins Co. (TSOC)—which is 60%-owned by a subsidiary of Tasnee and 32.5% by Sipchem.
The companies expect the project’s financial impact to appear starting from Q3 2026.
According to data available with Argaam, the ethylene plant expansion is located within the company’s complex in Jubail Industrial City. The project aims to increase olefins production from the ethylene cracker by an estimated 18%, at a total cost of SAR 1.87 billion.
