TEHRAN — A deadly fire at a shopping center west of the Iranian capital Tehran has claimed eight lives and left at least 40 people injured, according to emergency officials. The fire broke out on Tuesday at the Arghavan shopping centre in Andisheh town in Tehran province, according to state broadcaster IRIB. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. Visuals aired on television showed firefighters battling intense flames, with thick black smoke billowing from the multi-story building. Officials have not indicated any link between the fire and ongoing geopolitical tensions. Reports noted that a fragile ceasefire between Iran and the United States has been in place for the past few weeks.
