The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, announced the start of implementing the decision to raise the Saudization rate in engineering professions in the private sector to 30%, effective 30 June 2026.
The decision applies to establishments employing five or more workers in the covered professions, in accordance with the approved definitions and occupational titles in the Saudi Standard Classification of Occupations, the ministry added in a statement.
It covers 46 engineering professions, including architectural engineer, power generation engineer, industrial engineer, electronics engineer, vehicle engineer, marine engineer and sanitary engineer, among others. The decision also requires professional accreditation from the Saudi Council of Engineers.
The ministry said its inspection teams have begun monitoring the implementation of the decision at establishments and verifying their compliance with the specified Saudization ratios for the targeted engineering professions, to ensure the provision of productive and stable employment opportunities for Saudi nationals. It also emphasized that statutory penalties will be imposed on non-compliant establishments that fail to adhere to the decision’s requirements after the specified grace period has expired.
