RIYADH — The Saudi Ministry of Commerce detected foreign workers who had left their sponsors without authorization and were establishing and operating online stores for their own benefit after receiving training at an unauthorized facility in Riyadh. The facility was operated by a foreign investor and two residents in violation of regulations. Based on the ministry’s findings, a joint campaign was carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development and the Riyadh Region Police’s field enforcement authorities at the facility in Riyadh’s Al-Batha district. The facility was providing training on establishing and operating online stores without the required licenses, charging SR300 for each violator, while claiming to provide them with an international certificate in e-commerce. The relevant authorities apprehended the workers in violation and took the necessary legal measures against them. The two residents in violation were referred to the relevant authorities, while the foreign investor was referred to the Ministry of Investment to complete the legal procedures and apply the prescribed penalties.
