Cabinet Session
Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet, chaired by King Salman bin Abdulaziz in Jeddah, approved the implementation of a decision by the Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GC) Supreme Council at its 46th session to adopt the general agreement linking GCC member states through a regional railway project.
The Cabinet also approved executive regulations for the law protecting whistleblowers, witnesses, experts and victims, Saudi Press Agency(SPA) reported.
Other decisions included amendments to the regulatory framework governing water factories.
The Cabinet said the completion of operations at the main stations of the Riyadh Metro project reflects the rapid progress of the capital’s public transport system and broader efforts to develop integrated urban infrastructure aimed at improving quality of life, diversifying transport options and increasing public transit use in line with Saudi Vision 2030 goals.
According to Argaam data, the GCC railway network is planned to span 2,186 kilometers, starting in Kuwait and passing through Dammam in Saudi Arabia, before reaching Bahrain via a planned bridge. The route will then continue from Dammam to Qatar, the UAE and finally Muscat via Sohar in Oman.
