Saudi Aramco is considering a potential sale of its specialty chemicals business Arlanxeo, as part of its plan to divest some of its owned assets, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
The energy giant is working with an adviser to identity potential suitors for the Netherlands-based synthetic rubber producer, according to the people. Arlanxeo could attract interest from chemicals companies, as well as private equity firms, they said.
As per Argaam’s data, Aramco currently owns 100% of Arlanxeo that was founded on April 1, 2016, as a Netherlands-based joint venture with Lanxess.
In December, 2018, Aramco announced acquiring the remaining 50% stake in Arlanxeo from specialty chemicals company Lanxess for 1.5 billion euro.
