Saudi Arabia, UAE signed MoU in Riyadh to strengthen strategic cooperation in electricity connectivity, electricity exchange and trading, and rail connectivity
Saudi Arabia and the UAE today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Riyadh to strengthen strategic cooperation in electricity connectivity, electricity exchange and trading, and rail connectivity, with the aim of maximizing the shared economic benefits between the two countries.
The MoU includes an agreement on the general principles governing electricity interconnection, as well as the exchange and trading of electricity between the two countries. It also covers conducting the relevant technical, economic, and environmental studies to support the efficiency of energy systems and strengthen regional integration, SPA reported.
Additionally, it provides for coordination with GCC countries on expanding the GCC electricity interconnection grid, in accordance with the provisions of the GCC General Agreement for Electrical Interconnection.
It also includes an agreement on the general principles governing rail connectivity between the two countries for the two-way transportation and transit of goods and commodities, contributing to enhanced logistics integration, greater supply chain efficiency, and support for economic development opportunities.
