ROME — Saudi Arabia said lasting peace in the Middle East cannot be achieved through security measures or humanitarian assistance alone, stressing that only a comprehensive political process leading to an independent and sovereign Palestinian state can deliver lasting stability and regional integration.The Kingdom participated as co-chair of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, alongside Norway and the European Union, in the alliance’s 10th meeting hosted by Italy in Rome.Saudi Arabia’s delegation was led by Dr. Manal Radwan, Minister Plenipotentiary and head of the Negotiations Team at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.Addressing the meeting, Radwan said the international community now has a comprehensive political framework to advance peace efforts, built on the New York Declaration, U.N. Security Council Resolution 2803 and President Donald Trump’s comprehensive peace plan.She warned of a widening gap between international diplomatic efforts and the deteriorating situation on the ground in the occupied Palestinian territories, saying the humanitarian devastation in Gaza, continued settlement expansion, settler violence, military incursions and unilateral measures in the West Bank are undermining prospects for restoring peace and stability.Radwan said the vision based on the Arab Peace Initiative, the New York Declaration and the comprehensive peace plan remains the only realistic path to achieving security, dignity and prosperity for all countries in the region.She reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to working with its international partners, particularly the United States, Italy, members of the Global Alliance and the Palestinian Authority, to translate that vision into practical steps.”The next phase requires political will, collective responsibility and serious implementation to achieve a just, lasting and comprehensive peace,” she said.
