According to the National Transformation Program’s 2025 annual report, daily desalinated water production capacity increased from 4.6 million cubic meters in 2016 to 16 million cubic meters in 2025, representing growth of nearly 248% over the period.
The Kingdom achieved global leadership in this field despite being one of the world’s most water-scarce countries. This success is driven by innovation, investment in technology, and the pursuit of sustainable solutions to address water challenges.
Daily desalinated water production capacity has witnessed significant growth since the launch of the program, enabling Saudi Arabia to attain the highest desalination production capacity worldwide, as shown below:
