SAR said the project includes the construction of a new 21-kilometer railway line linking Dammam Second Industrial City to the national rail network, in addition to bridge works, operational systems, and the protection of related utilities. The project is scheduled to be completed within 28 months.

The project is expected to remove tens of thousands of trucks annually from the roads, enhancing traffic flow and improving supply chain efficiency, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

It is also expected to reduce carbon emissions and fuel consumption, supporting sustainability targets and the Saudi Green Initiative.

SAR indicated that the contract aims to strengthen connectivity between industrial cities, ports, and logistics hubs through an integrated railway network, while enabling more than 1,000 industrial facilities to access more efficient and sustainable transportation solutions.

The company added that the project will further support Saudi Arabia’s position as a global logistics hub and contribute to achieving the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy and Saudi Vision 2030.
