RIYADH — The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) announced the launch of Riyadh Digital District, a strategic initiative aimed at making the capital a global hub for technology talent, digital creativity and entrepreneurship. The initiative seeks to attract global technology talent and establish an international center bringing together talent and entrepreneurs, supporting the development of a strong knowledge-based economy driven by digital leadership and technological innovation. The district will focus on attracting specialized technology companies and talent in six key fields: artificial intelligence and big data, cybersecurity, cloud computing and services, the Internet of Things, blockchain technology, and robotics and drones. It will also offer specialized incentives for large and medium-sized digital companies, fast-growing companies and innovative startups, alongside advanced digital infrastructure with a wide range of services and facilities. Riyadh Digital District will provide an integrated digital business environment for technology companies, talent and investment, supporting the growth of the capital’s digital economy. The initiative is designed to contribute to non-oil GDP growth by leveraging the digital economy and supporting innovation, enabling emerging companies, creating technology jobs, increasing service efficiency, improving quality of life and boosting local production. The RCRC also highlighted the Kingdom’s digital progress, noting that Saudi Arabia ranked second globally in the World Bank’s GovTech Maturity Index (GTMI) 2025, first in the 2025 ICT Development Index, and among the leading countries in artificial intelligence in the Stanford AI Index 2025. It also highlighted the Crown Prince’s announcement of an AI company. Riyadh also topped the StartupBlink 2026 index, with the infographic highlighting the city’s fastest growth among the world’s top 100 cities and G20 capitals. Minister of State, Cabinet Member and RCRC CEO Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al-Sultan said the initiative would make Riyadh a global destination for technology talent, international technology companies and digital entrepreneurship. He added that it reflects the leadership’s commitment to advancing the capital toward global leadership in promising future sectors, strengthening the Kingdom’s role in digital transformation, fostering creativity and supporting initiatives that anticipate the future.
