Oil prices rose on Friday as efforts to resolve the Iran crisis stalled, with Tehran keeping the Strait of Hormuz closed and the US tightening pressure on Iranian crude exports.

Brent crude futures for July delivery climbed about 0.6%, or $0.66, to $111.06 per barrel at 08:03 a.m. Makkah time.

US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude for June delivery edged up 0.1%, or $0.08, to $105.15 per barrel.

Markets are now awaiting Baker Hughes’ weekly US oil and gas rig count later today for further signals on US supply prospects.
