Nama Chemicals Co.’s subsidiary, Jubail Chemical Industries Co. (JANA), initiated arbitration on Aug. 2 against a consortium comprising Green Dimension Co. for Environmental Services and Confident Engineering International in connection with the water treatment and calcium chloride project. 
In a statement to Tadawul, the company said the move follows its earlier announcement regarding the termination of two contracts with the consortium.
JANA had notified the parties of the contract termination in accordance with the agreements signed on Feb. 28, 2024.
The decision followed the consortium’s material breaches of its contractual obligations and its failure to take corrective action despite being granted the contractual cure period.
The company said the arbitration aims to protect its legal and contractual rights and seek full compensation for all damages and losses resulting from the alleged breaches.
It added that it will disclose any material developments in accordance with the applicable regulations.
Nama Chemicals said the costs associated with the arbitration will be determined at a later stage.
It also noted that its legal advisor is reviewing the contract for the water treatment and sodium chloride project in preparation for initiating separate arbitration proceedings.
The company said it will disclose any material developments in due course.
According to Argaam data, Nama Chemicals previously announced that, on Feb. 4, 2025, it terminated the contracts between JANA and the consortium of Green Dimension and Confident Engineering International.
The contracts covered water treatment projects for the calcium chloride and epoxy resins plants.
