Minister of Transport and Logistics Services Saleh Al-Jasser
Minister of Transport and Logistics Services Saleh Al-Jasser said that the signing of seven new agreements to establish logistics zones worth SAR 1 billion has raised the total number of logistics-zone contracts inside ports to 34 contracts, with total investments amounting to about SAR 15 billion, of which Jeddah Islamic Port holds the largest share.
In a statement to Al Arabiya TV on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of the Truck Marshalling Project, Al-Jasser explained that the Kingdom was able, under exceptional circumstances, to move commercial traffic from the eastern coasts to the western coasts smoothly, serving the Kingdom, the Gulf countries, and the world, noting that 27 new shipping lines have been launched since the beginning of the geopolitical crisis.
The establishment of the truck marshalling zone at Jeddah Islamic Port came in response to the increasing density of truck traffic, thus helping raise the efficiency of logistics operations inside the port, said the minister, stressing that the new zone is capable of accommodating 40,000 trucks per day.
“The Kingdom has been witnessing a logistics renaissance since the launch of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy and the accompanying reforms. The Kingdom has begun to reap the benefits of these efforts, which have contributed to enhancing supply-chain efficiency and raising the sector’s readiness,” said Al-Jasser.
Earlier today, the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) signed seven agreements worth SAR 1 billion to establish logistics centers in Jeddah during the inauguration of the Truck Marshaling Project, aiming to support logistics services, enhance economic value, and create jobs.
