TEHRAN — Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said Sunday that U.S. President Donald Trump faces a choice between what it described as an “impossible” military operation or accepting a “bad deal” with Tehran. In a statement posted on X, the IRGC’s intelligence department said Iran has issued a deadline for the United States to end its naval blockade of Iranian ports. It added that international actors, including Europe, China and Russia, are increasingly critical of Washington’s position.“The room for U.S. decision-making has narrowed,” the statement said, framing the situation as a strategic dilemma for the U.S. administration. The comments come amid heightened tensions following U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran on Feb. 28, which triggered actions by Tehran against Israel and U.S. allies in the Gulf, as well as disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.Since April 13, the United States has enforced a naval blockade targeting Iranian maritime traffic in the waterway.A ceasefire was announced on April 8 through mediation by Pakistan, followed by talks in Islamabad on April 11 that failed to produce a lasting agreement.Trump later extended the truce without setting a new deadline, at Pakistan’s request.
