US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said any attempt by Iran to implement a tolling system in the Strait of Hormuz would be firmly rejected, calling such a move unacceptable and illegal.
Speaking on Friday ahead of a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Sweden, Rubio said the alliance must remain beneficial to all member states and stressed the need for clear understandings on expectations and shared responsibilities among allies.
Rubio said the ministerial meeting would pave the way for a NATO leaders’ summit due to be held in the Turkish capital later this year.
