TEHRAN — Iran has released a rare video of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei following reports suggesting that he was in critical condition.The footage, aired by the semi-official Mehr News Agency, showed Khamenei surrounded by several people and appearing to speak with them. The agency did not specify when or where the video was recorded or identify those accompanying him.Mehr reported Sunday that Khamenei met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who is beginning his third year in office.According to the agency, the meeting focused on challenges facing Iran, including public livelihood needs, the military conflict with the United States and economic engagement with foreign partners.The footage marks a rare appearance by Khamenei, who has not been seen publicly since he was selected as Iran’s supreme leader in early March following the death of his father, Ali Khamenei, in a U.S.-Israeli airstrike on Feb. 28.Iran and the United States agreed to a ceasefire in April and subsequently signed a memorandum of understanding in June aimed at ending their military conflict and reaching a lasting peace agreement.The agreement unraveled last month, with Tehran and Washington exchanging attacks for nearly two weeks before U.S. President Donald Trump abruptly halted the bombardment amid diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict.
