Iran proposes reopening Strait of Hormuz, delaying nuclear talks to pave way for ending war
Iran presented a new proposal to the United States to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end the war, which includes postponing nuclear negotiations, Axios reported, citing a US official and two sources familiar with the matter.
The proposal calls for extending the ceasefire to allow both sides to work toward a permanent end to the war, with nuclear talks to be held at a later stage after the US lifts its blockade on the Strait of Hormuz.
Axios added that Pakistani mediators delivered the proposal to the White House, noting that it remains unclear whether the United States is willing to consider it.
The report also said that President Donald Trump is set to hold a meeting today in the White House with national security and foreign policy officials.
