JAKARTA — Indonesian authorities said on Sunday that the bodies of all victims missing after the eruption of Mount Dukono had been recovered, concluding search and rescue operations following the deadly disaster.According to state-run news agency Antara, Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) said rescue teams found the bodies of two additional victims after earlier recovering the body of an Indonesian woman, bringing the death toll to three.“With the discovery of the other two victims, all victims previously declared missing have been found,” Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari said.Authorities identified the two newly recovered victims as foreign nationals, both men aged 30 and 27.Muhari added that the joint search and rescue operation had officially ended.Mount Dukono, located on Halmahera Island in eastern Indonesia, erupted on Friday, sending a massive column of smoke and volcanic ash nearly 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) into the sky.Fifteen people survived the eruption, including seven Singaporean nationals and eight Indonesians, according to authorities.Indonesia sits along the Pacific “Ring of Fire” and experiences frequent volcanic eruptions and seismic activity due to its location on major tectonic fault lines.
