TWIN FALLS, Idaho — Three people were killed and seven others were injured, several of them critically, in a shooting at a newly opened In-N-Out Burger restaurant in Twin Falls, Idaho, on Saturday, authorities said.Police responding to the attack found the body of the suspected gunman in an area near the restaurant, though officials have not confirmed whether the suspect is included in the death toll.Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks said investigators were still working to determine the suspect’s identity and motive but believed there was no ongoing threat to the public.”It was a very chaotic scene,” Hicks told reporters.The shooting unfolded around 2 p.m. at the restaurant, which opened on July 24 as part of In-N-Out Burger’s expansion into Idaho.Authorities said investigators were interviewing witnesses after the attack occurred in a busy shopping plaza crowded with shoppers.Witness Lane Koehn said he saw a person carrying an AR-style rifle emerge from the drive-thru while another man armed with a handgun exchanged gunfire with the shooter. Koehn also described helping an employee who had been shot in the chest until paramedics arrived.Other witnesses said employees rushed customers to the ground before evacuating the restaurant as people fled the area in panic.Multiple victims were taken to St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center for treatment.Authorities have not released the identities of the victims pending notification of their families. The investigation remains ongoing.
