MAKKAH — The General Authority for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque announced the implementation of a geographic coding project for columns inside the Grand Mosque aimed at improving navigation and helping worshippers and visitors move more easily within the mosque.The authority said the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the spatial guidance system inside the Grand Mosque and improve the overall experience for pilgrims and Umrah performers.The project included the installation of geographic coding signs on columns across the ground floor of the mosque to support more accurate and efficient space management and crowd organization.According to the authority, 84 directional signs were also added in the Masaa area to improve location visibility and help visitors reach destinations more easily, particularly during peak periods.The authority said the signage design was upgraded to ensure greater visibility and readability, while also linking the coding system with gates, walkways and major landmarks inside the Grand Mosque.The updated designs and dimensions were developed to suit the movement patterns and high crowd density within the mosque.The project forms part of a broader package of development initiatives being implemented by the authority to improve services provided to pilgrims and visitors while enhancing safety, organization and ease of movement throughout the Grand Mosque
