Gold prices fell on Friday, heading for a weekly decline amid inflation concerns and continued monetary tightening, alongside stalled US-Iran peace talks.

June gold futures dropped 0.8%, or $37.80, to $4,686.20 per ounce.

Spot gold edged down 0.4% to $4,675.58 per ounce, while silver fell 0.7% to $74.92 per ounce.

The US dollar index, which tracks the greenback against a basket of six major currencies, rose 0.1% to 98.86 as of 08:17 am KSA time.

Silver futures for May declined 0.8% to $74.89 per ounce. Spot platinum fell 1% to $1,991.37, while palladium edged down 0.3% to $1,470.76.

Markets are awaiting the final reading of the University of Michigan’s US consumer sentiment index, after the preliminary April figure dropped to 47.6 from 53.3 in March, along with updated inflation expectations.
