Prices of 90 commodities and services in Saudi Arabia grew in April: GASTAT
Average prices of 90 out of 169 commodities and services across 10 categories in Saudi Arabia grew year-on-year (YoY) in April 2026, data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.
On the other hand, prices of 71 other goods and services decreased, while five remained unchanged.
Among 100 items under the food and beverages category, local grapes recorded the highest price rise of 27.65% in April, followed by locally produced medium-sized lemons (+23.19%).
Meanwhile, local round onions saw the steepest decline, falling 43.71%, followed by imported round onions (-33.58%) over the same period.
Among 38 items under the housing, utilities and fuel category, prices showed a mixed trend in April, with 29 items rising, while eight items declined YoY. One item remained unchanged.
Most items in pets, related products, and cultural services were mostly higher in April, with three items rising, while two items declined.
Prices of clothing and footwear items were mostly lower, with only two items rising, while eight declined YoY.
The three personal care, social protection and miscellaneous goods and services recorded broad-based declines in April, with all tracked items posting lower prices.
Household goods and maintenance also recorded broad-based declines, with all four tracked items under furniture, household equipment and routine household maintenance posting lower prices in April 2026.
Healthcare costs showed a mixed performance in April. One of the three tracked services posted higher prices, while two declined YoY.
Transport services also showed a mixed trend, with one service recording a price increase, while another declined in April 2026.
Restaurants and accommodation recorded mixed movements. One service moved higher, while two declined compared to the same period in 2025.
Tobacco prices edged lower, with Marlboro cigarette prices declining in April 2026 compared to the same period a year earlier.
