Bupa Arabia for Cooperative Insurance Co. said it received confirmation on Oct. 8 that the Sharia Supervisory Committee (SSC), appointed by the Shariyah Review Bureau (SRB), the company’s Shariah advisor, had completed its review of the company’s activities. 
In a statement to Tadawul, the insurer said the confirmation verifies that its activities comply with the Shariah principles established by the committee, covering the segregation of shareholders’ and policyholders’ accounts and the investments held in both accounts.
The confirmation also covers the company’s insurance products.
Bupa Arabia said that SSC, in coordination with SRB, will oversee and review the aforementioned operations and activities to ensure their compliance with Shariah principles.
SRB will also conduct a Shariah audit of the company’s operations in accordance with Shariah Governance Standard No. 2 issued by the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions.
