The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced that the upcoming AFC Asian Cup, to be hosted by Saudi Arabia, has been postponed to Dec. 23, 2027, through Jan. 21, 2028, from its originally scheduled dates of Jan. 7 to Feb. 5, 2027. 
The AFC said the decision followed extensive discussions with the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) and the local organizing committee, taking into account current developments and related logistical considerations, according to a statement today, Nov. 3.
The AFC noted that the decision reflects the parties’ shared commitment to ensuring the best possible conditions for hosting the tournament and delivering an exceptional experience for participating national teams, fans, and all stakeholders.
The AFC commended the SAFF and the local organizing committee for their commitment and full readiness to deliver a world-class tournament for players and fans across the continent.
It also expressed confidence that they would deliver an exceptional edition befitting the tournament’s stature and the aspirations of Asian fans.
