Riyadh was scheduled to host the Gulf-EU Summit on October 24, 2026.
The General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) announced that the Gulf-EU Summit, scheduled to take place in Riyadh on October 24, 2026, has been postponed to a later date to be mutually agreed upon by the Gulf and European sides.
According to a statement, GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi said the decision was prompted by continued attempts by the terrorist Houthi militia to target Saudi Arabia and its civilian facilities, threatening the safety and security of civilians. He added that the decision also followed the extension of the suspension of operations at King Khalid International Airport and was taken to ensure the safety of participating delegations.
Albudaiwi reaffirmed the GCC’s and the European Union’s determination to create favorable conditions for holding the summit, in line with their long-term objectives of strengthening and advancing cooperation across various fields between their member states, while promoting growth and prosperity for their countries and peoples.
