Saudi Arabia’s foreign reserve assets declined by about SAR 81.1 billion, or 4%, month-on-month (MoM) to SAR 1.75 trillion in September 2026, according to the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA).
Net foreign assets rose by 3% year-on-year (YoY), or SAR 56.9 billion.
Reserve assets include investments in foreign securities, foreign cash and deposits, reserve position in the International Monetary Fund (IMF), special drawing rights (SDRs), and monetary gold.
Foreign currency reserves, which account for around 95% of total assets, increased 4% YoY to SAR 1.65 trillion in September.
Reserves at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) inched up 2% to SAR 13.3 billion during the same month.
SDRs, however, fell 3% to SAR 78.9 billion.
Meanwhile, gold reserves held steady at SAR 1.62 billion, maintaining the same level since February 2008.
